Happy Holidays from Tairise
Let’s Rock 2008!
by Shylah
This Frostfell, Tairise celebrated with a “secret santa” gift exchange, which was orchestrated by Furflies and the party hosted at Azjin’s house in North Freeport. A big pat on the back to Furflies who set this up and thanks to Azjin who opened up his beautiful home. The party was a lot of fun with much loots and snowball fights!
Neoshae was able to make a small vid of our party. Great job Neo! To view this vid, click here.
Here’s wishing everyone on Butcherblock happy holidays and all the best for 2008!

Tairise Member Interviews
Get to Know Your Guildmates – Old and New
by Syani (interviews) and Shylah (short intro)
Interviews with old and new members of Tairise are going to be implemented in each future issue of the Tribune. It is a fun way to get to know your fellow guildmate(s) if you haven’t all ready had the chance to group up with them.
Syani did a great job with this batch of interviews prior to his leaving. Without further ado, here are the interviews done by Syani. Thank you!

I managed to find Lexia busy scribing; calmly nodding to let me know she was aware of my presence. After her work was finished she turned and with a smile greeted me.
“What brings a bard such as you to see a sage?” she politely asked.
“I’ve come searching for you Lexia, I’m from the Tairise Tribune and I would like to ask you a few questions for an interview,” I promptly replied.
With a beaming smiled she answered, “I would be delighted!”

In search of the next big scoop, I found myself in the Blood Haze Inn. I had recently received a note saying that Uhlen could usually be found here. Let me just say that this was a really unusual place for a bard such as myself to find herself.
“Yo!” scaring 20 seasons of my life, the assassin steps out of the shadows with a big smug grin on his face. “I hear you’ve been looking for me.” With a nervous chuckle I haltingly explain to him that I’m a reporter from the Tairise Tribune and how I would like to ask him a few questions.

One of my sources had recently told me about of a most interesting Ogre. Following this most juicy of tidbits, I headed out to Zek to try and find this famous Ogre. As I made my way through Zek I stopped paying attention to my surroundings as my mind was busy thinking about all the wonderful questions I was going to ask, Kirac the Ogre.
“Ouch!” In my musings I had forgotten to look ahead and walked straight into a wall.
“Who in their right mind puts a wall in the middle of nowhere?” I asked myself as I looked up.. and up.. and up.
“Is you ok perty?” the humongous Ogre asked as he helped me to my feet.

A reporter’s work is never done and that’s how I found myself walking along the streets of Teren’s Grasp.
Out of nowhere these two enormous rhinos come barging down the now deserted street. The poor riders looked like rag dolls on top of the powerful beast and I’m not ashamed to say that I found the whole scene very comical, right then and there I decided they were going to be my next subjects.
“Nice Rhinos you guys have there,” I managed to say in between gasping for air from the laughter.
With a dare devilish smile Wootncute replied, “Talk about a very rough ride.”
Closely followed by Kikila, “Would you like to take him for a spin?”

Tradeskill Developer for EQII
An Interview with Emily Taylor
by Fasci
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Emily Taylor (aka Domino) about her experience so far as the new tradeskill developer for Everquest II. Intrigued by her series of “Developer Diaries” around the Rise of Kunark expansion on the WarCry network, I wanted to learn more about her worklife at SOE.

Tairise in the Top 100
EQII Leaderboards
by Shylah and Duiker
Tairise has been a guild for over three years. In that amount of time, we have always made it into the Top 100 for the Butcherblock server for at least 5 or more categories. Of those, Tairise typically bumps it up a notch by being in the top 50 within those lists. As a sidenote, I don’t think being in the top 50 for “Most Deaths” is ideal... hehe
Here are the standings for Tairise as a guild on the Butcherblock server as of Jan 08. Great job Tairise!
- #20 in Status (woot!)
- #20 in Wealth
- #28 in Members
- #30 in Unique Members
- #37 in NPCs Killed
- #40 in Items Crafted
- #40 in Most Deaths (oopsie!)
- #51 in Quests per member
Thank you to Duiker for providing this information. If you would like to assist in searching the leader boards or if you find someone from Tairise who made it onto the “individial” lists for Butcherblock, please inform me via the Tairise Forums. Thanks!
The Lore of EQII
The House of Everling, Part 1
by Rykshi
I confess to being a lore junky—one of those strange types who read every quest and every tome. To me, knowing the history and mythology of Norrath makes my journey there so much more enjoyable, and I hope to share some of that with you. I begin with my favorite Norrathian family – the Everlings.

Their story is part history, part legend, sadly incomplete and often contradictory. Where possible, I rely on actual tomes or NPC dialog as source material. Where, as with the Everling tale, the history is muddied or incomplete, I have also relied on Dev. Vhalen's commentary. I hope you enjoy getting to know Riktanus and his family as much as I have.

Rise of Kunark – Ding!
The Race to 80
by Shylah

With the Rise of Kunark, the adventurer and artisan levels increased to 80. With weapons and harvesting tools in hand, a number of Tairiseans went out to gain levels.
The first adventurer to reach level 80 in Tairise was none other than our kookie shadow knight, Coica. Grats Coicer!
The first artisan to reach level 80 in Tairise was our tradeskilling alt queen with her sage, Lexia. Grats Lex!
Many other members of Tairise soon followed these two and obtained level 80. Truth be told, RoK is a beautiful land chalk full of quests at every turn. Unlike the easy exp grinds in other zones, in order to gain levels in this expansion, the key is to complete as many quests as possible! So grab a friend and say hello to cockatrice, rhinos, and sabertooths, oh my!
December Pats on the Back
Way to go Tairise!
by Shylah
Thanks to Shy for hanging out in Loping Planes with me for an hour or two on Monday. It kept me sane having someone to talk to.. I get bored talking to myself :P And thanks for the painting, it’s going up as soon as I get out of work ;D. Thanks to Thome for making my Pyreshield Adept 3 last night. ~Kulost
Heh, thanks to Kulost for helping Karis with some quests in Loping Plains. There were a few I had never done. Without his guidance, I’m sure I would have been wandering around not knowing what to do! Let’s group again soon Kulost ^_^ ~Shylah
Thanks to Alfreya for making Quince’s DFC SK armor for me so I could give it to her as an early Frostfell present. ~Renei
Many thanks to Doc for sending Kursis a bunch of collectibles (some of which Q needed too!) And many thanks to Alf and Ren for the lovely frostfell present! Gotta level Kursis so she can wear it! ~Quince
Thanks go to Uhlen for rescuing a 73 Monks spell he had on Broker and sending it to me (at no cost :)) I offered to pay his asking price (business is business, ya know) but he turned me down. Which reminds me, if you buy something from me (or an alt) via Broker, just send me a note and I will refund your cost. That way you have it and don't have to worry about someone else buying before I log in. (I usually check who bought what, but sometimes I miss things) ~Kirac
Huge Hugs to Alfreya for sending me a bunch of stuff in T3 for Carpenter's. You saved me weeks of harvesting thanks hun ~Furflies
Many thanks to Uhlen for taking over the SoD group and being patient with us all :). As I mentioned, so long as we are doing these things together and helping one another it is a success :) ~Quince
I second that. Thanks uhlen! ~Shylah
To every single one of you. You have made my job as a recruiter such a joy :D. Ryk and Q who have been working so hard to make sure we get everything done and every single recruit gets the attention they deserve. Shylah and the officers for making yourselves available whenever one of us gives a shout-out. To all of our members, new, old and retired for dropping what you're doing to come and greet your new family members. I can't thank all of you enough :D ~Syani
Thanks to Kirac for refunding the purchase price that I paid him when I bought an item from him off the Broker (was in a hurry and not really watching who was selling, hehe !!!). Thanks to M'Lord Baash, Syani, Xoleth, Duiker & Kirac (I think!) for grouping with me on Sunday afternoon and getting me my very first piece of my Armor set. ~Alfreya
Ooo :) Grats on your first armor set piece Alf! :D. I wanted to thank Alfreya for providing me with many wonderful potions to help me in my adventures. Thanks! ~Shylah
Lexia and her tradeskiller army for the food/drink, hex dolls, arrows and anything else she has been kind enough to cook up for me this month. /pat /hug. Kirac, Alfreya and others for offering help at a moments notice. If I could get the dumb giant language finished up I'd be scouting for a Nek Castle party by now ;) ~Lyrikill
Thank you Duiker for your generosity! Cayuga reached lvl 79 Sage (Woot!), checked out the prices for the recipe book on the broker...over 80G. I commented in guild chat (complained actually) and lo and behold Duiker comes up with the book and mails it to me asap. Thanks again...I thought that was really above and beyond, but hey...that's what this guild is all about. ~Toqua
A big thanks to Syani for helping me find some of the harvestables needed for decorations for the party on Monday...which leads me to: Shylah for helping with the crafting and placement of the decorations! I want to make the party a magical event for everyone...don't forget the snowballs! ~Azjin
Yep, thanks Syani for giving me so much stuff to make decorations for the party!! You are the #1 present harvester!! haha. A big thank you and pat on the back to our guild recruiters, Syani, Quince and Rykshi! Things have been really busy lately and you folks have been doing an amazing job. Thank you! ~Shylah
Many thanks to Lexia's crafting alt, Taisi, for helping me out with one of my Secret Santa gifts !! ~Alfreya
Thanks to Rykshi for a few Frostfell harvest items I needed to complete some items! Unfortunately, now my Inn room is nearly full of stuff. I am going to have to move to a bigger place soon. :o Where is that Housing guide, again? Oh wait, I found it. Hmmmm... ~Kirac
:D I just wanted to take the opportunity to say a few words of thanks about last night's awesome Frostfell party. First, I would like to thank Azjin for volunteering his marvellous home for the occasion. I would like to thank Shylah and her crew of decorators for all their hard work in making it look so festive (and the snowfield on the roof was a Great idea)!!!! I would like to thank Furflies for organizing the Secret Santa operation. It was a blast and I believe that everyone had fun finding presents for their recipient and it was fun doing the gift exchange. And, I would like to thank all the people who showed up at the party last night and made it such fun. A few people might have imbibed a little too much eggnog, but hey what else is Frostfell for, right Het? All in all, it was a most excellent night and showed how special the guild that I now call home is. Well Done, Tairise !!!! ~Alfreya
Hear Hear!! Thumbs up, Tairise!! ~Fasci
Many Thanks to Cayuga for cranking out some spells for my secret santa gift to Fasci! You were awesome to do that for me!!! ~Quince
AND me!! 8-) /hugs ~Fasci
Thanks to all who came along for the impromptu Mentor Night / HQ partial run last night. Rykshi, Shylah and I were mentoring to Lyrikill, Makal and Opitone. We hit part of RoV and most of Nektropos Castle. Had GREAT Loot come down (I think ~2-3 Exquisite Chests, 3-4 Ornate, ~6 Treasure and 3 Small). Plus AA and a level or two. (Even I was getting AA from mobs I have killed so many times.) I had a blast running through those zones again and seeing green and blue mobs (I LOVE killing Varsoon, it is fun to kill the "Undying.") Thanks for the opportunity. ~Kirac
A big THANK YOU to Alfreya who has made me almost all of my 71-80 combat arts for Stone since RoK launched! Thanks for all your time spent doing those with such a quick turn around time Alfreya! ~Stonewahl
HUGE thanks to Het for my frostfell presents. I'm dying to use that spell ;D And a big thanks to Azjin, Shy and Fur for setting up the whole event, it was a lot of fun. ~Kulost
Thanks to Lyrikill for making Jora (alt) some harvesting tools.. making me a more efficient ninja harvester! ~Shylah

The Kitty Corner
by Shylah

Here we are in 2008! Hard to believe that Tairise has been around for over three years.
We have definitely gone through a number of growing pains, but with them, we have lived, learned, and progressed into who we are today. And I must say that I am very proud to be leading such a fantastic group of people.
We are currently discussing the direction of Tairise for 2008. Where do we want to go? What do we want to do? Thus far, the unanimous vote is to have fun with our in-game friends and family. And I am definitely all for that!
If I leave anything with you guys in this issue of the Trib, it would be: Believe in yourself and do not be afraid to use your voice. Trust your gut and try not to let ill perceptions burn you. Seek clarity if you are unclear. And always remember, this is a game. Have fun!
To you and yours, Happy New Year.
And that’s how the kerra sheds...
